Two different things get called "Google Shopping". Free listingslet your products appear in Google's Shopping tab and other Google surfaces at no charge from Google. Shopping ads are the paid placements you bid for per click. Most small Indian sellers should start with the free one, and Storzu handles the part that usually stops them: setting up Merchant Center and getting products into it.
What are the steps?
- Open Google Ads in the dashboard under Customers & growth. Only the store owner can do this.
- Start free listings. Storzu sets up a Google Merchant Center account for your store and submits your products automatically.
- Let Google review them. Approved products can then show for free.
- Optional: connect your own Google Ads account and launch a Performance Max or Standard Shopping campaign.
- Watch the results in your dashboard, and pause, resume or remove campaigns whenever you like.
What does Storzu do, and what is left for me?
Normally a seller has to create a Merchant Center account, verify and claim their website, then build and upload a product feed. Storzu removes all three:
- Merchant Center is set up for you.Your store gets its own Merchant Center account under Storzu's Merchant Center.
- No domain verification for a
yourname.storzu.comstore. There is no code to add and nothing to claim. - Products are submitted automatically from your store, so a new product or a price change does not need a separate upload.
What is left for you is the part no tool can do: making your product information good enough for Google to approve and for shoppers to click.
How do I get my products approved and clicked?
Google judges listings on the information you give it. These habits cause most approvals, and most rejections when they are missing:
- Titles that say what it is."Cotton straight kurti, navy blue, sizes S–XL" is found. "New arrival!! Must buy" is not. Put the product type first, then material, colour, size or model.
- Clean photos. One clear product on a plain background, with no text, price stickers, watermarks or collage. Google rejects promotional overlays on product images. Our guide to AI product photography shows how to get there with a phone.
- One price, everywhere. The price on Google must match the product page. Storzu submits the price from your store, so the risk is quoting a different price in chat or at the counter and never updating the store.
- Honest stock.Mark sold-out items as sold out. A listing that clicks through to something you cannot sell wastes the shopper's time and Google notices.
- GTIN where you have one. If a product carries a manufacturer barcode (the EAN or UPC on a branded box), that is its GTIN, and Google uses it to match identical products. Handmade and own-label goods have no GTIN and can still be listed.
- Consistent delivery and returns. What your store says about delivery charges and returns should match what you actually do. Shoppers who meet a surprise at checkout leave. If you ship by courier, see Shiprocket shipping for your online store.
When is it worth paying for Google Ads?
Free listings compete for space with everyone else's free listings, and Google decides how often yours appear. Paid campaigns buy more visibility. They make sense when your products are approved, your photos and prices are in order, and you have some orders, so you know what sells and what a customer is worth to you. Products must be approved in your free listing before a campaign can use them.
Google Ads run in your own Google Ads account. You sign in with Google, pick the account, and Google bills you directly. Storzu links your store's product feed to it and sets up the purchase-conversion tag automatically, so the campaign can count orders, not just clicks.
Performance Max or Standard Shopping?
- Performance Max. Google builds the ads from your product feed, using your photos, names and prices, and shows them across Search, Shopping, YouTube, Gmail, Display and Maps. You design nothing. Google learns what sells, so judge it after a week or two rather than on day two.
- Standard Shopping. Product ads on the Shopping tab and in Search results, paid per click. You can set an optional maximum cost per click, which is the simplest way to stop a small budget from going on a few expensive clicks.
| What matters | Free listings | Standard Shopping | Performance Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost from Google | Nothing | Per click, your daily budget | Your daily budget |
| Where products show | Shopping tab and other Google surfaces | Shopping tab and Search results | Search, Shopping, YouTube, Gmail, Display, Maps |
| Your control | Product data only | Budget, area, optional max cost per click | Budget and area; Google decides the rest |
| Needs | Approved products | Approved products and your own Google Ads account | Approved products and your own Google Ads account |
| Best for | Every product seller, from day one | Tight budgets and sellers who want to cap each click | Sellers who want reach without designing ads |
Where should the ads show, and for how long?
Choose the whole country, a radius around your shop of 5, 10, 25 or 50 km, or chosen cities or areas. The radius uses your shop's map location, so set your shop address first. Then set a daily budget and run the campaign for 7, 14 or 30 days, or until you stop it. Google reviews new campaigns before they go live.
A shop that delivers only in its own city should never pay for clicks from the other end of India. Match the area to where you actually deliver.
How much should I budget?
This is general arithmetic, not a Storzu price. Google bills your own account, and you set the numbers.
- Work out what a click is worth. If about 1 in 50 visitors buys and an order earns you ₹500 after costs, a click is worth about ₹10 to you. Set your Standard Shopping maximum cost per click below that.
- Give Performance Max room to learn. A small daily budget that runs for 14 days teaches Google more than a large one that runs for 3.
- Start with free listings anyway. They cost nothing, and they show you which products Google approves and people click before you pay for any.
How do I see results and stop a campaign?
Results show in your Storzu dashboard. Because the purchase-conversion tag is set up automatically, you can see whether clicks became orders. Pause, resume or remove a campaign from the same page. Removed campaigns stop for good, and their history stays in your Google Ads account.
What are the honest limits?
- Approval is Google's call. Products and campaigns are reviewed by Google, approval takes time, and nobody can promise a listing will show for a particular search.
- Products only. Services, appointments and enquiry-only listings do not get Shopping listings. Service businesses should look at Facebook and Instagram ads instead.
- Not your Google Maps profile. Storzu does not manage a Google Business Profile. If you have a physical shop, set that up separately with Google and add your store link as the website.
- Ads are not free. Only the listings are. Every paid click or campaign is billed by Google to your own account, with no Storzu cut.
What to do next
Create your Storzu store, list your products with clear titles and clean photos, and switch on free Google listings before you spend anything on ads. For what each plan includes, see Storzu pricing.
